Sala's comics are a fun and self-aware universe, inviting to revisit again and again. Although some critics felt his work was repetitive and quirky, he enjoyed a strong cult following for precisely those reasons. Recurring elements in his comics are dark mysteries, secret societies, odd monsters and macabre horror. Richard Sala was an American illustrator and comic artist, known for his tongue-in-cheek horror mysteries.
